They proved me right by doing an incredible job in just two days. I needed to replace the sidewalk in front of my property. The work required heavy machinery and had to be done after hours on a Saturday, which made it a high-stress project. When the owner, Alonso, showed up with two massive skid steers, he explained that using heavy equipment was the only way to demolish everything in a single day. During demolition, the crew accidentally damaged a wall and broke a hidden water pipe. I panicked, but Alonso stayed calm, reassured me, and promised to handle it. His crew worked until 1:00 AM to fix the plumbing, repair the stucco, and paint the damaged wall. In just one day, they demolished the old sidewalk, poured new concrete, fixed the pipe, restored the wall, and even power-washed the front of the building. You truly get what you pay for. Alonso and his team just finished the sidewalk repair, driveway repair, and driveway ramp widening in front of our house, and I couldn't be happier. They took care of the tree root removal and pruning making the process extremely fluid. Alonso worked with myself and the city the whole way through on permits and the sidewalk rebate program which would've been a headache to figure out on my own. Alonso came the day after I contacted them to check out my problem which was that a tree root was rising in my driveway and lifted my drive 4 inches in a few spots. My low riding Prius could not get in the driveway without scraping the bottom of the car badly. They came in, analyzed the situation and repaired it by removing the tree root and redoing a section of the concrete. They did a fabulous job for a really great price. While they were there, they even suggested we needed to put a skid free surface on our sidewalk slope so we wouldn't slip when it got wet or was raining. They fixed that too and didn't even charge us extra — amazing prices. They really work with you. I can't imagine using anybody else for concrete work in Los Angeles.

Catching up on this long past due review. The Safer Sidewalks team did our curb repair of about 50 feet in May 2025. They did good work. They helped us work through several options to get to the right solution within our budget. There were a couple of things on the curb finish that weren’t initially to our liking and without any fuss they reviewed agreed and fixed it. Nearly a year later the curb looks fantastic, and I expect it will remain that way for a long time. We are anticipating having to repair some sidewalk space due to tree roots, Safer Sidewalks will definitely be our number one. Call to do the work. Alonso and Austin were highly communicative. If not a bit overextended but manage that as they needed to get the work done. I recommend them.

He is licensed, insured, bonded, knowledgeable, and most importantly, EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL and POLISHED. I hired Safer Sidewalks to repair a curb, parkway, and sidewalk that was destroyed by a prior unethical contractor. When I first called Safer Sidewalks, I was nervous. I have been in the residential rental and property management business for over seven years, and I have had my fair share of horror stories with deceptive, unresponsive, and unethical contractors. Having been jaded by such past experiences, I was not expecting to have such an exceptional experience that I ended up having. What a welcome surprise. When I called Safer Sidewalks, it felt different. To my surprise, Alonso picked up my call on a weekend morning, when I called him extremely stressed out about the problem that I had with my sidewalk, parkway, and curb that was destroyed. He generously and graciously spent almost an hour on the phone explaining the process to fix my problem. Before the day was over, he sent me a follow up email with a detailed breakdown of the project. He answered more of my phone calls that I made to him for clarification, and that did it for me. Without hesitation, I immediately decided to hire him and met him a few days later to sign the contract to get the project started. He immediately got to work on getting the first city inspection scheduled for this permitted project. Once the project was underway, I continued to be supremely impressed throughout multiple stages of the project. He immediately set up all requisite city inspections. Alonso regularly sent me updates either by email, text, or phone call. He answered my calls and texts. He sent photos and videos of the progress. He gave me a realistic timeline for the project, and he finished ahead of schedule. He did not do what most contractors do: add on surprise costs along the way because of "undiscovered" costs. The price he quoted me--the price on the contract--was what I paid. One more note: Alonso has what most contractors do not have: extensive public works experience and regular contact with public works city inspectors and supervisors. He is fully licensed and well insured. He is bonded. He has an active Class B and Class C8 license from the California Contractors State License Board. Many contractors do not have the C8 license, which is a tough license to get for complex concrete work. So if you are shopping around, and you find a contractor that can "do it for less," you are not going to save any money. Most likely, that cheaper contractor will not do it right, and you will have to pay extra down the line to fix those mistakes. As I have learned through extensive experience, you pay for what you get. So if the price you are quoted by Safer Sidewalks is higher than other contractors, THERE IS A REASON. You pay for what you get. Pay it. You will pay for peace of mind and a job done right the first time. Overall, my experience with Alonso Romero and his team at Safer Sidewalks was exceptional, outstanding, and beyond my expectations. From years of experience with numerous property projects in Los Angeles, Alonso Romero is the absolute best contractor that I have ever worked for.
Alonso Romero from Safer Sidewalks installed twin 6' permitted curb drain pipes under the sidewalk in front of my house and poured a new sidewalk panel above the pipes (curbolet installation). Alonso worked with City of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering inspectors to ensure all was proper and to code. The pipes are for safely charging electric vehicles on the street, and both Alonso (and BOE) were supportive of this unique request. He worked patiently with me through the design process and provided balanced guidance on the pros/cons of various options I had to choose. Alonso is C8 certified and knew both of my BOE inspectors from previous work, so his knowledge and experience certainly showed. Would definitely recommend!
